What To Expect
Lagos
Lagos is a city in the Algarve region, in the south of Portugal. It is known for its walled old town, cliffs and Atlantic beaches. Some steep wooden steps lead to the sandy cove of Praia do Camilo. The nearby Ponta da Piedade cliffs offer stunning views of the headland and a lighthouse. The Church of Santo AntΓ³nio, an ornate church from the 18th century, is located opposite the Castelo dos Governadores, a castle with a facade and baroque towers.

Ponta da Piedade
The cliffs of the Ponta da Piedade headland is one of the finest natural features of the Algarve. This dramatic limestone coastline is formed of sea pillars, fragile rock arches and hidden grottos, all of which have been chiselled-out by savage winter storms.
The Ponta da Piedade is a bleak and windswept headland, and the beauty of the region is only discovered on descending the cliffs, where the exposed cliffs reveal their golden colour, and the turquoise sea waters lap precariously balanced rock formations. The headland can only be described as stunning.

Praia da Rocha
.Praia da Rocha
is a beach in the municipality of PortimΓ£o, in the Algarve (Portugal). This beach has a large expanse of sand, covering a total area of about 146,000 mΒ², along 1.5 km of coastline.
Next to the beach stands the Santa Catarina Fortress, built in the 17th century to defend the bar of the Arade river.
The beach owes its name to the rocks that lie between the sand and the sea. It is one of the most famous in the Algarve, if not in the whole country. Every year, during the summer, the beach fills with tourists from all over the world and, despite its great extension, it is rare that it is not crowded with people.
In recent years, it has hosted the Mundialito de Futebol de Praia, which is played in a stadium built for the purpose and which has a capacity for 3000 people.
Next to the beach, there are several restaurants and bars that attract a large number of tourists, both during the day and at night.

We are a family with college aged children. The highlight of the tour was the boat ride through the caves at Ponte da Piedades, which I did not even know would be a part of the tour. I had mentioned that I wanted to take a lot of pictures there, and Luis drove us to the stone staircase, walked down with us, and a boat just right for 4-5 passengers was at the dock. Such a beautiful experience! 80 euros extra was worth it (we paid the boat guy). Luis then drove us to two other beaches, where I just wanted to photograph from above, and also to some small towns to see something remarkable about them. He gave us an hour to ourselves in Lagos to shop (but if that had been our focus we could have spent longer there and less time at the beaches). Then he ate with us at a Lagos restaurant that was so authentic, not touristy at all, with delicious food. He knows the locals at the designated stops, and this gives an "inside scoop" feel to the tour. During driving, Luis is so knowledgeable about the area, as he is a local himself. Would highly recommend this tour if you have somewhere specific you want to visit or focus on. Luis is so friendly and kind, a wonderful guide.
