Wine and countryside!

Our tour guide Uggo was fantastic! Very friendly and welcoming. We were picked up on time from our accommodation and were soon driving around the Portuguese countryside! The swim stop was amazing and the family who ran the winery show passion and pride for their work! Nice tasting wines accompanied with some lovely snacks.

A great afternoon

This was a great day out, highly recommended. We booked an Alsafari half-day afternoon tour on the website 'Get Your Guide' the day before. On the morning of the tour, Alsafari rang to offer us a free upgrade to include the wine tasting (presumably because its good business sense to run a single tour when numbers permit, rather than two separate tours). This suited us and we were picked up promptly at the location we'd specified. You can choose to be picked up anywhere in Albufeira. There were 4 other people on the open-topped jeep when it arrived and there were 4 of us, so 8 in total. There's plenty of room in the back and it's not long before you're off the main road and driving slowly around the trails where you can all stand up for a better view. Our driver Hugo(?) was really friendly, knowledgable and entertaining. The first part of the tour involved frequent short stops where he would explain what we could see. Then we stopped at a goji farm where we tried the local firewater, honey, jams and goji berries (you can buy the produce but there's no hard-sell). From there we saw some more of the countryside before stopping for 10 mins at a cafe so we could buy ice-creams and water and use the toilet (cheap prices because it's out of town). The second half of the tour was at the Quinta do Canhoto winery. We were shown around the vineyard and production areas before enjoying some of the wines with cheese and chorizo. Again, you can buy the wines if you like (around €7-8) but nobody pushes it on you. We were dropped off where we had been picked up. The whole tour had lasted about 4 and a half hours which flew by. Take plenty water and anything you need to stay sun-safe, because you're in the sun for a lot of the day.

Amazing day

Miguel (our guide) was really engaging and entertaining. We had great fun on the safari, and tried some local organic produce that was very tasty and well priced. The day was the right amount of sight seeing and having the freedom to go off for a wonder. The wine tasting was obviously the highlight and could not recommend this excursion enough! Thank you!

The highlight

This really was the highlight of the entire trip to the Algarve. Pick up was easy, great communication had a message the morning of confirming the pickup time. Driver was amazing and the wine/buffet was outstanding. Real authentic Algarve experience. Highly recommend

Half day wine adventure!

Ask for Marco if you want a real backroads adventure! We visited a historical site and then drove through the hills to an organic farm that featured various aperitifs along with the most delicious honey I have ever tasted! Then, an adrenaline filled 4x4 trek through the hills, with a few stops along the way to smell various herbs that were growing along the side of the road. We stopped at an amazing local bakery (an unexpected surpise) and then on to the winery. The fact-filled tour showed the entire wine making process, and the tasting was set in a room with views of the vineyards as the sun was setting, the perfect ending to the day.
